Abstract

This is a qualitative study aimed to explore how experienced teachers in grades 4 to 6
experience how the new syllabus proposal will affect their planning, teaching and
assessment in art.

The method is qualitative and was conducted through individual interviews with five teachers
with at least 10 years of professional experience. I wanted to take part of my interview
persons thoughts on the new syllabus proposed in art.

The results showed that the new syllabus proposal in art will mean more structuring of the
planning process for teachers. The teaching will become more extensive with the digital
elements such as filming and editing software. The assessment of art is considered to be
severe when it is so personal. Teachers ask for further education and believe that educaded art
teachers might be needed to get a true and correct assessement.
